The company called the Sierra was founded in the year 1979 and it was an American company which was involved in the development as well as the publishing of the games online. In the modern times the company is best known for the graphic adventure games which were started by the company in the 1980s and many of these games proved to be very important in the history of the video games. - The company was founded in the year 1979 by Ken and Roberta Williams after Ken a programmer with IBM bought an apple chip which he had wanted to use to develop a compiler .at the same time his wife Roberta was playing a text adventure game. She realised that with computer graphics it was possible to make better adventure games.
- There were a number of game which were designed by this company before it was sold to CUC international a company which was membership based in the year 1996. CUC merged with another company known as HFS incorporated in December 1997.
The present state of the company
There were a number of things which the people liked about the games which were made by this company. The richness in the graphics made the games like the homeworld popular and cemented the place of the company at that point of time. In September of the year 2007, Sierra released the game known as world in conflict and in the month of October in the same year released timeshift. In the year 2008 Sierra Company’s parent company Vivendi universal games merged with activision. In the later part of that year Sierra was shut down for probable sale in future.
